Black Widows review
With their partners, the three women schedule a picturesque vacation. In the speed boats used by their husbands to ferry the lake, they then decide to plant explosives. As the boats blow up, the first half of the series shows the audience around the dreamy holiday destination that erupts into flames. The story then flashes back to their marriage’s nitty-gritty.
Interestingly, it reveals how these three women in their relationships are not content at all and the only way out is by killing them. They are celebrating the blast on the boat as their triumph. The climax build-up is powerful and the audience will be on the edges of their seats throughout.
But what turns the tables for the trio is that the explosion is survived by one of the ladies’ husbands. He is determined to achieve his vengeance. The police catch a whiff of being involved in a foul play and pursue the tails of the wives of the suspects. Throughout the investigation, the leading ladies have done a good job of maintaining a poker face so that the needle of suspicion does not point at them. What happens in the end, and whether or not the ladies are caught, is something you’re going to have to watch the show for.
ZEE5’s Black Widows stars Mona Singh, Swastika Mukherjee, and Shamita Shetty. The show is an official adaptation of the Finnish show Mustat lesket. It is the story of three women who decide to take control of their life after being subjected to repeated domestic violence.
Swastika Mukherjee, in an earlier statement, said, “Given the international reputation of the show, the team has put their heart and soul to create something quite extraordinary. The three widows will slap patriarchy and set their own rules and celebrate their new freedom. Rest assured, it is not your ordinary women-centric drama and we don’t need men to save us. These are strong powerful women putting an end to their dark past and blossoming into a new life.”
