‘Vinland Saga Season 2‘ is a historical epic action anime series based on a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Makoto Yukimura. The tale follows Thorfinn, a young mercenary who joins the company of the legendary Viking and military officer Askeladd after the latter assassinates his father in the early 11th century AD. Thorfinn continues to challenge Askeladd in duels as he grows older, but he always loses. They form an unusual paternal bond as a result of this process. The ‘Vinland Saga’ is known for sticking to Norse history, literature, and mythology to a tee.
Vinland Saga Season 2 release date
Despite the fact that viewers are eagerly anticipating the next season, the creators have yet to reveal it. Director Shuuhei Yabuta, on the other hand, teased the fans with a tweet. Yabuta shared sketches of three characters, Thorfinn, Askeladd, and Canute, on Twitter in September 2020. He told his audience that “there is a little easter egg” and challenged them to find it.
Spoilers for Season 2 of the Vinland Saga
Askeladd attempts to persuade King Sweyn not to conquer Wales, his birthplace, in the season 1 finale. Askeladd is then asked to choose between Canute and Wales by the King. Askeladd, enraged, decapitates the King. Canute recognises that Askeladd has done this to shield him and tries to take advantage of the situation by killing Askeladd as a demonstration of his claim to the throne. Thorfinn rushes into the throne room and sobs, his revenge forever lost. Thorkell and others apprehend him as he assaults Canute. Several manga characters make their anime debuts at the end of the show.
From chapter 55 (volume 8) onwards, it’s possible that season 2 will be adapted. The Slave Arc is the first storey arc that the second season could tackle. Thorfinn’s thirst for vengeance was the driving force in his life, as Canute knows. Instead of killing Thorfinn, he could turn him into a slave. Thorfinn may be assigned to a kind and caring farmer named Ketil to work on his farm in the future. He might find some peace now that Askeladd is gone. Meanwhile, Canute can seek to strengthen his position in both England and Denmark.
Vinland Saga Season 2
Thors Snorresson, a Viking commander, abandoned a sea war fifteen years ago and began a quiet life in Iceland with his wife Helga. Now, in the year 1002, their young son, Thorfinn, yearns to visit Vinland, the land of the gods. The Jomsviking Floki, who is revealed to be a former Jomsviking, appears at Thorfinn’s village one day to enlist Thors in combat. Floki’s real motivation is to assassinate Thors as a revenge for deserting fifteen years before.
Despite his father’s orders to stay at home, Thorfinn sneaks onto his father’s ship, which is eventually drawn into a trap in the Faroe Islands and ambushed by a band of mercenaries led by Askeladd, whom Floki had conspired to kill Thors. Thors, despite his great strength and abilities, fights off the attackers without resorting to lethal force at first, but after Thorfinn is kidnapped, he submits to execution. Thorfinn joins Askeladd’s crew after his father’s death in order to avenge his father, and he regularly challenges his commander to various duels. By 1013, Askeladd’s company has found work as mercenaries in Thorkell the Tall’s Danish invasion of London.
